The Newbern Depot Museum held its first "A Depot Christmas," on Dec. 17th, where children came to hear the story, "The Polar Express," and have a visit from Santa. The event was a total success, with nearly 200 people coming in three showings that evening. Santa gave a small gift, and there was hot chocolate and cookies on hand, along with model trains running in the museum's main rooms. This was a fundraiser for the Depot Museum, and we took in nearly $900. This will be used for museum upgrades in the coming year, and in next year's event.
Currently, we plan to have four shows next year, on two different nights. Our main lesson learned was to have the shows earlier. Our 5 pm, and 6:30 pm shows were sold out. The 8 pm show was the lesser attended. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this event successful.
