Ticket sales for "Christmas at the Depot," featuring the reading of the book, "The Polar Express," and a visit from Santa, with a gift for those in attendance, will be at the Newbern Hardware Store, and The Farmhouse Food store, both located on Main Street, in downtown Newbern throughout November and December.
Tickets will be $5 per person for the Saturday Dec. 17th showings at 5 pm, 6:30 pm, and 8 pm. When purchasing, you will get a receipt that you will turn in for an actual ticket on the night of the 17th. If tickets are purchase before Dec. 10th, the ticket will be personalized with the first name of the ticket holder. This ticket will then receive a special stamping by the Conductor prior to the reading of the "Polar Express" book. The book will be read by the Conductor.
Sale times beginning this week will be at Newbern Hardware, 230 E. Main, from 7 am, to 5 pm, Monday through Saturday, and The Farmhouse, Tuesday through Friday, 10 am to 6 pm, and on Saturday, 10 am to 3 pm.
The event will also have hot chocolate and cookies, and the Newbern Depot Museum will be open before and after the readings. There is no charge for the museum part. It will be decorated for Christmas, and will feature six running model trains.
This event will NOT feature a train ride. It will be the book reading only in the depot's freight room. You can enter the freight room 15 minutes prior to the program.
If paying by check, make it to NHPS on the check (Newbern Historical and Preservation Society) All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Newbern Depot Museum operations.
